Crackdown on Easter Bonfires and Firecrackers in Nicosia and Limassol

Cyprus Police have intensified checks to prevent the use of firecrackers and the lighting of Easter bonfires (lambrajies), with patrols and inspections in all districts.

As part of these actions, the Police responded to incidents of fire lighting and firecracker use, while in various areas, wood collected for lighting bonfires was located and confiscated.

During the checks, a number of young people were checked, without anything reprehensible arising. In cases of fire lighting in open spaces, members of the Fire Service were also called.

In the Nicosia and Limassol districts, piles of wood, chairs, sofas and garbage bins intended for bonfires were found. Some of the items were collected in cooperation with local authorities.

The Police continue actions to prevent dangerous behaviors and enhance the safety of citizens.
