Troodos Military Base Burglarized: Authorities on Alert

The burglary of a military camp in Troodos has brought serious issues of neglect to the forefront. The break-in, which triggered an alert for the Ministry of Defense and the Police, occurred last Tuesday night.
Two individuals, depicted in photos from a closed-circuit surveillance system obtained by Alpha, gained access to the military base, known as point 21 of the air force, and burglarized it. The base's security cameras recorded their movements, and the military authorities informed the police. Strong forces rushed to the scene but failed to locate the perpetrators.
An operation was immediately set up, as, according to information from Alpha, it was not the first time. Testimony was secured regarding a specific vehicle, and its owner was called in for questioning. It was found that the manager of the vehicle was her 30-year-old son, who was arrested, as was the second young man. Yesterday, they were brought before a court and were detained for 5 days.
The camp, which was prepared about 30 years ago for the installation of S-300 launchers, has no equipment. According to information from Alpha, it concerns building facilities from which cables were stolen. The long-term abandonment of the site has led to repeated violations.
