Cyprus has recorded a significant increase in drug seizures for 2025, according to statements made to ΚΥΠΕ by the Commander of the Drug Enforcement Unit (ΥΚΑΝ), Christos Andreou. Intensified controls at entry points have led to increased seizures of cannabis and cocaine.

Doubled Quantities: 613 kilograms of cannabis and 39.5 kilograms of cocaine were seized until August 2025, significantly higher amounts compared to 2024. In addition, 2,476 cannabinoid products containing THC substances were confiscated.

Mr. Andreou mentioned that traffickers are using new concealment methods, such as cereal packaging. There is also vigilance regarding Captagon, a dangerous synthetic pill.

ΥΚΑΝ is also focusing on the financial aspect of trafficking, with asset seizures. Since 2020, €1,426,554 has been seized and €833,783 has been confiscated.

Through the Early Intervention program, 205 people aged 14–24 were referred to treatment centers.
