Scam Targeting Fire Victims in Limassol

Scammers have set up a fraud on social media, pretending to help the fire victims of mountainous Limassol. They create fake accounts and invite citizens to participate in online gambling, promising that the profits will be donated to the victims.

Gerontologist Marios Kyriazis warns about the scam, pointing out that scammers use fake profiles and emotional manipulation. They ask for advance payments to 'activate' the games or 'unlock' the winnings.

Tips to protect yourself:

• Do not reply or send money.
• Report the profile or post on Facebook.
• Block the account immediately.
• If you have already sent money, contact your bank or payment provider immediately.
