Reversal in Tseriou Bypass Road Accident Case: Retrial Ordered

The Supreme Court overturned a first instance decision regarding a traffic accident on the Tseriou bypass road, ordering a retrial by a new judge due to contradictions and "hasty" conclusions.

The accident occurred when two vehicles collided, causing one to hit a third vehicle. Initially, the two drivers who caused the collision were deemed 50% responsible each. One of the drivers appealed, claiming incorrect assessment of the testimony.

The two sides presented diametrically opposed versions of the causes of the collision. The Supreme Court found gaps in the police investigation and questioned the credibility of witnesses, setting aside the original decision.

The case returns to the District Court for a new trial, while the appellant was awarded costs of €3,000.
