“The biggest blow I had was to my personal core, inside me”
For his election campaign, but also the complaint that had been made against him by the Eleni Chronopoulou among others, Alexis Georgioulis spoke about sexual abuse on the show “Pame Danae”. The actor and MEP is again a candidate for MEP with the Green Movement.
“I’m ‘drunk’ with contact with people because I did a tour that was 24 hours a day with people. This is very interesting, you see the people. We have to do it anyway, either as politicians or as artists. The Green Movement is not a new movement, it has years of activity at the regional level. When I was looking for who I could partner with, I saw that he has all the characteristics that I would like. It’s enjoyable for me because I get in touch with people. Me, because I didn’t start as a politician through the parties, as an artist you open yourself up to the world and this thing fills you up. I also like this thing in politics, that you are in contact with the world, you are open. For me this is improbable”, initially said Alexis Georgoulis and continued as follows:
“Our goal is to create space for the green space in the European Parliament for Greece and for Europe in the Greek Parliament. It is something we need, so we go with the need first and then with the face. Undoubtedly, all the weight falls on me because I am the most well-known of the Euro-ballot but I don’t see it as a personal move or something that concerns me directly. It’s about the green space where we really need to have a representation of Europe in Greece and a representation of Greece in Europe.”
THE Alexis Georgoulis he also added: “I feel like people are happy to see me in their place but they don’t know or they’re not sure if I’m coming down and they don’t know the movement I’m coming down. There are many times when we come into confrontation about things that are happening in the country. The government-opposition confrontation is out of the question regarding the European elections because here we are looking at how the whole of Greece will be represented in Europe. We have to look at how we live in Europe, we have to see things from a European perspective.”
Concluding his interview, Alexis Georgoulis also referred to the complaint that had been made against him: “There is no criminal prosecution, there is no development and almost a year and a half has passed since I learned about it. It is something that concerns the Authorities of the European Parliament, it is something that we here have handled and used or exploited in a very different way, which has nothing to do with the legal way.
The biggest blow I had was to my personal core, inside me. That’s where I fell apart, in those days I didn’t know how to wake up. The feeling that I am he, I am strong, did not exist. I was broken. Fortunately my people came and talked to me personally and then some publicly expressed themselves, even people we just worked with or some who didn’t know me or knew me as a public figure.
There I began to feel as if the pieces of me that had been scattered were slowly coming together and I didn’t even know where. It wasn’t that I could see myself broken, I couldn’t see myself at all. I owe it to the people who spoke, who expressed their opinion and spoke from the heart because, probably, that’s how hearts are made. I owe it there 100% that I am here and we can talk.”
