A 23-year-old foreigner was arrested on the Xanthi – Porto Lagos highway, as police found him illegally transporting nine immigrants – eight Iraqi nationals and one Palestinian – without the necessary legalization documents.
According to the police, the alleged perpetrator was driving a car. car, failed to obey a stop sign and sped. He then stopped the vehicle and tried to escape on foot without success. It was established that the 23-year-old lacked a driver’s license, while the vehicle had been reported stolen to the Thessaloniki police department. The car and two mobile phones were seized.
The arrested person was taken to the Xanthi District Attorney. A preliminary investigation was initiated by the Xanthi Border Guard Department.
